Fishing Art

"Fished Impressions" by Massachusetts Artist and Kayak Angler, Joe Higgins

Because each prints is lifted directly from the fish, they are quite large in
some cases. A 28 inch bass will be printed on a sheet of 36 x 24 rice paper.

Gyotaku has it’s roots in 19th century Japan where fisherman would record their catch by making an impression of it by coating the fish with ink and then rubbing paper on it to reveal a print. My prints are all done from fish I've caught since the spring of 09. I typically get 4-5 prints per fish and no two are the same. All original prints are done on rice or sumi paper and can be sent out next day. All the fish were eaten after the prints were made and were delicious, except the albie. If you have a fish and would like a print of it -keep it on ice and give me a ring.

If you'd like a free bumper sticker- just send me a SASE to
